How It Works

Documents Required

Depending on your specific passport situation, you will need the following:

For a New Dutch Passport or ID Card:

• Completed passport application form
• Your current Dutch passport or ID card (if available)
• Proof of residence (official documents from your current country of residence)
• Recent passport photo that meets Dutch requirements
• Any supporting documents requested by the consulate

For Passport Renewal:

• Your expired Dutch passport or ID card
• Proof of residence in your current country
• A passport photo meeting Dutch specifications

For Lost or Stolen Passports:

• Official police report documenting the loss or theft
• Declaration of loss form from the Dutch consulate
• Proof of identity (any available government-issued document)
• New passport application form

For Emergency Travel Documents:

• Proof of urgent travel (flight ticket, medical emergency, etc.)
• Any available proof of Dutch nationality
• Two passport photos meeting Dutch passport standards
• A completed emergency travel document request form

Important Information

• Applications must be submitted in person at a Dutch embassy, consulate, or designated application centre.
• Processing times vary, but we help minimize delays by ensuring your documents are complete and accurate.
• If your passport has expired, you may still be able to apply without additional penalties, but certain conditions apply.
• For children’s passports, additional documentation and parental consent forms are required.
